Description
In the Mekong Delta, each year, a great competition opposes the most valiant young people of the Kingdom. By building footbridges with planks placed on stones, they must reach the village located in front of their starting village. The first to succeed is awarded a Golden Dragon from the King's hands. But, to get there, he must calculate his move and be wary of the maneuvers of his opponents as well as the intentions of the Mekong Dragons.
Each player leads a young man participating in the competition. His goal is to be the first to take the young man he leads all the way across the Mekong Delta to the village opposite his starting point.
RIVER DRAGONS is a playful game full of tactics, programmation, surprises and bluff. The situations are constantly undergoing dramatic reversals due to the actions of the adversaries as well as the effects of the formidable Dragons which prevent from acting as one intended. The whole family can have fun with this fast-paced and surprising game, and even the most seasoned players will be charmed by its inexhaustible resources.

How did I create the game?
En Juin 1992, en regardant un reportage TV sur la vie des paysans dans la campagne Vietnamienne, et en les voyant cheminer sur des planches de bois posées entre les rizières, l’idée m’est venue de créer un jeu où on devrait construire son itinéraire avec des ponts de bois, pour rejoindre sa bien aimée dans le village en face.
La première version n’utilisait pas de plateau, on posait ses pierres où on voulait sur la table et l’estimation visuelle des distances était beaucoup plus importante. On retrouve d’ailleurs cela sur le plateau « en crue » de cette nouvelle version des DRAGONS DU MEKONG, magnifiquement réédité par Matagot en 2012, RIVER DRAGONS.
