How did I create the game?
In November 1996, I was trying on black plastic spinning tops in a Nature & Découvertes store in Rennes. I am surprised by their exceptional rotation and decide to buy 3.
Back at the FRAGALAB in Saint-Malo, I keep spinning them, completely hypnotized by their mad rush. The same evening I saw, in quick succession, a TV report on the Dervish Tourneurs (Turkish Dancers), then the dancers of Hula Hoop (Hoops).
I immediately got the idea of making a game where you have to place colored discs on spinning tops, according to specific objectives. The prototype will be called GYRO and will be awarded at the Concours de Créateurs de Boulogne-Billancourt in 1997 (THE GOLDEN DICE).
